RECAPS (week of January 13 through January 17, 2003):
Alexis decides that this Ned is to be banned from visiting Baby Kristina. Of course Dr. Lewis tries to convince her that she’s making a mistake that will ultimately hurt Kristina. Alexis is unmoved by his argument. She is later confronted by an angry Ned who blackmails her. Ned tells Alexis that if she doesn’t allow him to visit Kristina, he will tell Sonny that Kristina is his daughter. He pushes Alexis’ buttons about how Sonny will take the baby away if he finds out and Alexis relents
SONNY AND ALEXIS TOGETHER!!
. When she sees Dr. Lewis, she explains that Ned’s behavior may be a danger to her daughter but Ned blackmailed her into allowing him to be in Kristina’s life
Ric insists to Sonny that Alcazar was already dead when he got to the hotel that night. He tells Sonny that he saw Alcazar’s dead body on the hood of the car downstairs. Ric says that if Sonny turns him in, it will be worse for Brenda and Jason because Ric could then say that he saw Brenda and Jason fleeing the scene. Sonny warns him against it and orders him to stay away from Carly.
Sonny interrupts an argument between Brenda and Jason to tell Brenda that what she remembers about Ric is true. Sonny and Jason try to convince Brenda that Jax will do nothing besides make things worse if he goes after Ric. Carly walks in and tells them that Jax pulled a gun on Ric and took him away. Brenda leaves to get to Jax and Sonny follows, knowing how easy it is for Jax to convince Brenda that he’s right.
Carly tells Sonny that Zander vandalized her new club. She tells Sonny that Zander was high on something. Sonny offers to take care of it but Carly asks him not to. He promises Carly (yet, again) that he loves her 
and tells her not to worry about Jason.
At the PCPD to see Ric, Sonny asks Alexis to defend Jason, explaining that Brenda’s fate is directly linked to Jason’s. Alexis resists but Sonny tells her that if she thinks about it, she will “do the right thing” because she always does the right thing. When he returns to the penthouse, he finds Jax, Jason, and Carly there and is told that Brenda is missing. He blames Jax, asking what he’s done now.
Scott accuses Alexis of using delay tactics. Alexis warns him that she may have to defend Jason as well as Brenda. Scott asks Alexis why she can never say no to Sonny. The trial begins but neither of Alexis’ clients is present. She tries to cover for them when Jason shows up and apologizes for being late. The judge then asks Jason where his wife is. Meanwhile Courtney tells Sonny that she overheard a conversation between Skye, AJ, and Coleman and suggests that Coleman is the one who manufactured the witness against Brenda and Jason.
Alexis asks for a continuance and is denied when Taggart enters the courtroom and tells all in attendance that Brenda is on the way to General Hospital after being fished out of the water. The judge grants a recess and Jax, Sonny, and Jason head to General Hospital. While Jax is in with Brenda, Sonny sees her give him a key. Jason shows up and Jax is ordered out of Brenda’s room. He takes off and Sonny follows. He catches up with Jax after Jax has taken a videotape from Alcazar’s safe deposit back. He tries to convince Jax to give him the tape since whatever is on the tape could incriminate Brenda. Jax refuses and the police show up and confiscate the tape 
Scott manages to convince the judge to continue the trial with a closed-circuit camera in Brenda’s hospital room. Alexis telephones Brenda and Jax at the hospital just as the camera crew arrives to set up the cameras.
Sonny has a little talk with Coleman and warns him what will happen if Jason and Brenda are convicted, scaring Coleman to death. Courtney shows up at the courthouse again and Sonny asks why. She lies and tells him that she wanted to be there to support him.
Alexis gives her opening argument and then cross-examines AJ, getting him to admit to his long-standing resentment of his brother, Jason. When she cross-examines Skye, she breaks Skye and her story by getting Skye to admit that she was drunk on the night of Alcazar’s murder and that she may have been passed out on Alcazar’s bed after having sex with him.
Taggart brings the videotape to Scott in court and Alexis objects, insisting that she have a chance to examine the new evidence. The judge rules against her objection and the videotape is played in court. As Sonny feared, it incriminates Brenda by showing her going after Alcazar with a letter opener one time before.
